Real PC gaming on the ARM handhelds people already own.

GamerBazar builds open-source software for Snapdragon gaming handhelds. Our main project, SteamOS ARM Port, puts Steam's Game Mode, PC games and Android apps on devices that were stuck on Android.

Flagship project

SteamOS ARM Port

Valve made an ARM build of SteamOS for the Steam Frame headset. Out of the box it doesn't suit a handheld: services crash, the UI sits on the slow cores, the GPU never clocks up, and sleep drains the battery. We fix all of that and add the rest a handheld needs, and we keep it updated.

Game Mode and Desktop

The full Steam Game Mode with the built-in controls showing up as a Steam Deck pad, plus a KDE desktop when you need one.

PC games on ARM

x86 Windows games run through FEX and ARM64 Proton. Epic, GOG and Amazon work through Heroic.

Android apps

Play Store apps run next to Steam, so one device covers your PC library and your phone games.

Updates from Steam

Signed updates install from Steam's own update button. Deltas keep downloads small, and nobody has to reflash.

Tuned per chip

Custom kernels, GPU drivers, power limits, fan curves and sleep for 8 Gen 2, 8 Gen 3 and 8 Elite.

Extras that matter

Frame generation, Decky plugins, a performance overlay, a bottom-screen dashboard on dual-screen devices, and hardware video decode.

Hardware

One image per chip, set up for your device

Flash the image for your Snapdragon generation, pick your device in the boot menu, and it configures itself.

Why it matters

Handhelds deserve more than their stock OS

Snapdragon handhelds have a lot of GPU in them, but they ship with Android and get few updates. Owners who want their Steam library on the go are told to buy different hardware.

We think the device you already have should run the games you already own. Everything we make is open source under the GPL. Fixes go back to the projects we build on, and anyone can build the images themselves.

What's next

Roadmap

  1. 1.3.x8 Elite support, updates through Steam, external monitors in Game Mode, hardware video decode
  2. NowNext update: Android apps on the latest Steam runtime, full-package fallback for updates, more device fixes from tester logs
  3. NextSnapdragon 865 handhelds out of beta, Legion tablets with internal storage installs
  4. LaterEasier installs without manual bootloader steps, more chips, and setup that works for people who've never used Linux

Built in the open

A community that tests on real hardware

Most supported devices were brought up with help from owners who flash test builds and send back logs. Contributors send pull requests for gyro support, video decoding and new boards.

About

GamerBazar

GamerBazar is a small independent studio run by hashtagbasit. We started in September 2026 with SteamOS ARM Port and are bootstrapped, funded by the people who use what we make.

Device makers, testers and press can reach us at [email protected]. If you'd like support for a device, sending one over for long-term development is the fastest way to get it there.
